Aldi Launches Own Brand Paper Wine Bottles

Supermarket Aldi is launching the UK’s first, supermarket own-brand paper wine bottles.

In stores from 18th March (which is Global Recycling Day), you will be able to purchase a Cambalala South African Shiraz (75cl) for £7.99 and a Cambalala South African Sauvignon Blanc (75cl) for £7.99. Both are available in their new lightweight paper bottles.

Made from 94% recycled paperboard and lined with a food-grade pouch to contain the wine, the new bottles are fully recyclable and five times lighter than a standard glass bottle.

Available for under £10, these South African wines from the Western Cape come as a Shiraz and a Sauvignon Blanc.

Cambalala South African Shiraz

This wine, with bright red fruit, blackberry and cherry flavours and spicy oak notes, the Cambalala South African Shirazs a full-flavoured, silky-smooth red. Perfect with pork, lamb, or beef dishes, it also matches well with foods that have a little spice.

Cambalala South African Sauvignon Blanc

For something a little fresher, the Cambalala South African Sauvignon Blanc has notes of winter melon, green apple, and citrus. Offering a vibrant acidity that keeps the palate fresh, this well-balanced, elegant wine is perfect on its own or enjoyed with chicken, seafood, and salads.

Aldi’s Cambalala South African Sauvignon Blanc and Cambalala South African Shiraz are available from 18th March. They will be stocked in your local Aldi stores and available on their website. Both bottles will be retailing at £7.99.
